Annual Festivities

Every year, Caroline Springs hosts their annual summer festival for people all over town and other suburbs come to visit in this sort-of festive event. Once again, just like every year, met up with a couple of friends and had the traditional routine of a McDonalds run, catch up and then off to some booths to check out what's free. Ending the night with rides and fireworks. I must say, the fireworks may have been somewhat inferior to last year's display, but surely it kept me staring. I can never help myself. 

The quality of the photos may be terrible but let me justify myself by saying that all you can really bring to a festival is your phone, or in my case, my iPhone. Unless I was willing to carry a massive extra bag around, I think I'll go as compact as possible. Plus, iPhones don't do such a swell job in such dark conditions anyways. 

Modify A Dress Tutorial (kinda)

Here is the result of a few dresses which I had already modified. I was originally going to post a written tutorial as well as a video but my father seemed to have "accidentally" deleted the pictures off the camera. Tomorrow, I would have hopefully posted an outfit tutorial. Enjoy this and the video below!

The Males Construct

I see you've somehow managed to locate yourself to a new addition of my blog. Even I sometimes become a little estranged from the female world of glamour and fashion. I admit that sometimes, looking at mens fashion can also conjure many inspirational thoughts and images all into my little head. All the males can certainly take notes of whatever may attract them and the ladies can just sit and indulge in the pretty imagery already prepared. Agree?

A Happy New Year to everyone who is excited to start again and become the better selves that they can be. I guarantee it will be your year. If you were to ask me what my new year's resolution could be, I wouldn't have a clue. I already often set myself goals during the year, successfully fulfilling each one. But if you have one? Interview Attire: How Quirky is Too Quirky? 

If you’re planning your outfit for your next big interview, you may be wondering how to balance your personal style with professionalism. It’s good to express a bit of who you are at an interview without overwhelming your potential employer. Also keep in mind that your limitations may depend on the type of job you’re shooting for. An artsy position may give you a little more leeway than an admin position. Here are a couple of tips to stylize and minimize simultaneously: 

1. Use Bright Colors to Accessorize  

Professionalism is generally associated with subdued colors like gray, khaki, and black. Consider using these colors for the foundation of your outfit. For example, try a gray pantsuit with a solid black shirt underneath the jacket. If you want to add color, consider wearing a unique bracelet or subtle yet colorful necklace. As you can imagine, a red bracelet will be less startling to employers than a flaming red blazer.  

2. Think Timeless, Not Trendy 

Those clunky, lime green wedges you just bought may look great with the right outfit, but field testing them in an interview is probably not your best bet. If you want to look up-to-date but still streamline, try a mustard heel or burgundy flat. Regarding jewelry, keep it individualized to your taste but keep it small. Enormous beads and bangles hanging off your neck may give your interviewer the impression that you are too “out there” for the position.  

3. Consider Shape, Fit, and Modesty 

A long, flowing skirt may be the perfect choice for a day at the park, but in an interview, you’ll want to opt for something a little more form-fitting. Showing off your shape a little is good, but make sure your clothing is not too tight or showy. You want to appear confident, but not revealing or indecent. If you’re looking for one word to sum up how you should dress for an entire, keep the word “subtle” in mind. Think Go-getter, not Lady Gaga.  

Remember that in an interview, confidence and self-assurance are essential. Plan your outfit wisely and dress to impress!
