SNOWSTORM IN THE RANGES

It's been so exciting to wait for the snow to fall in Victoria due to the antarctic blast this weekend but the forecast as always was just so unpredictable and for the first time, I was frustrated at the current fluctuation of snow vs. rain.

A GALLERY IN THE FOREST

This might seem like a rather long post but I really couldn't choose 6 pictures that I liked the most but at least I'm not posting all 41 that I had originally chosen to pick from. I decided to make a separate post to my previous one as these are sort of different locations and I was originally imagining this to be my outfit post. I know I haven't had many outfit posts this summer than I wish I could have. To sort-of (but I know not really) make up for it, I've added a few more pictures here.

SEASON 2

Eeep! I've finally come around to editing my pictures from mine and Peter's second year anniversary. My laptop was in dire need of a second life before I could edit these and for a while, I just couldn't get around to it. I realise I don't have as much as I did on last year's post but these turned out just so beautiful and I love this collection all the more.

TRENTHAM FALLS

It's so hard to cope with 38+ days especially when the only source of air conditioning in your house resides solely in your parents bedroom. The fans struggle along with my pets who can't seem to make their mind up where they want to rest that would be less warmer for them. It's just too damn hard. Since I heard that yesterday's weather was going to be another one of those days, I asked Peter if we could check out Trentham Falls for a couple of hours and so, that we did.

Summer Dates And Plans

If there's one thing I loathe about an Australian summer, it would be how high the humidity could be in a day. It often leads to days trapped inside with a struggling aircon barely thriving to keep me cool. Now that the temperatures are gravely rising (I still don't understand why people love the heat), placid activities like picnics and days soaking the sun's rays that seep through the trees is something I appreciate so much more. I like the shade and embrace the breeze and for now that seems to be okay because I'm still yet to be drowning in a sweat puddle of my own. I'm also slightly glad that we've said goodbye to knitted sweaters, scarves and stockings as it feels innervating to be able to feel some warmth on my skin and touch the grass with my toes without my feet feeling like they'll completely frost within minutes. Along with the enjoyment of sunshine and warmer summer colours, I'm revering the time I get to spend with Peter on his days off. Most of the time, they're randomised but I've been thankful that each week is starting to flow into a routine so that not a lot of planning ahead is needed if we wanted to do small things like hikes or going on small dates.

I Can Be Proud

It's been longer than a week now and I have neglected to post some of these. It was for an assignment and I only used the picture above but there were three I really did like. I was to manipulate an image, creating one dark and moody, then a bright and sunny version of the same photo. I have a print of the image above and to be honest, it's very much not what I would prefer when taking pictures for my blog. As you can tell, these are a much warmer than what I would have usually made my images and darker. Also, the editing process for this is so much more time consuming so I like having my settings set on the camera so once I upload them, there would be no need for me to edit. Though that may occur once or twice. I was hoping to get these done around 6 in the evening and I can assure you that it was nice and warm during that time however, the clouds caved in quickly and so my pictures turned out much bluer than normal. As much as I'd prefer not having to edit and I wish we didn't need to darken our images for the assignment, I'm surprised at how okay they were and that they had turned out not so badly.

Days Off

Peter has recently been blessed with a new job along with a couple of offers he received from other places whom were undoubtedly impressed by his skills and potential as a bartender or the sort. Congratulations to him by the way and I'm so glad he works where he does now. He's been badassing it for a couple of days and I even had the pleasure of meeting a couple of the people working with him. On a day off I was torn between picking places to go for the day's trip. But we managed. The heat to and from in his car from the lack of a working air-con was all worth it once we walked over the small hill to the beach. The breeze was cool and peaceful. Sadly, we hadn't stumbled across any rock pools but we caught glimpses of fish swimming near by in the shallow parts of the beach. The water was both hot and cold, keeping our temperatures cooler for the day and we relaxed for a bit before heading back to the car. I've mentioned this before but I don't fancy beaches much however, taking your toes for a dip or just the scenery is rather satisfying, indeed. 

Season 2 Premiere

Anniversaries are one of those very special occasions which I'm assuming everyone plans ahead for in order to have a lovely day planned and see itself timed perfectly. I felt like we were given a free 'cheesy pass' for the day so we had quite a few awkward moments directing different poses and trying not to cringe at all the cheesiness. The day before was another 40+ degree day and I was dreading that it would be our fate but the breeze was cool and the sun shone much too brightly in our eyes so we were blessed with graceful weather down at Pipemakers where we usually are. I'm pretty sure we were struggling to avoid mosquitos most of the time in-between compliments and repositioning. 

In advance, we booked a table for two at the Brooks of Melbourne and they have given us every reason to return as the service and the staff were wonderful, the place was warmly lit and the presentation of the food was outstanding, each dish was delicious and as for the portions, they were enough to suffice you for the rest of the night. I have no idea how I could describe the artistry of their dishes since the mixes were foreign for me and rather baffling but they complimented each other perfectly. I had been looking forward to their Forest Floor desert since peeping the menu weeks ago and it was adorably presented with a remarkable resemblance exactly that of a whimsical forest floor. It reminded me of when I used to pretend fairies would be sleeping in the mushrooms in our grass when I was younger. I highly recommend their restaurant to anyone who is looking for a place to wine and dine or try their lunch menu which I'm considering for next time. I do hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did and perhaps cringed a few times too. It sure was a wonderful day, start to finish.

Coming Back

Originally, this was meant to be a guest post only Peter isn't quite fluent with blogging and so I am left to finish off this post which he has already started by picking his shots from yesterday. I do agree with the fact that it has been a while since we took a stroll through Pipemakers and now that Summer is sort-of here, I've remembered how flies and mosquitos were such a nuisance last summer. It was quite refreshing to see how seasonal this place can be. As Peter pointed out, it never looks the same. We were actually trying to collect a handful of flowers that I can start pressing which by the way I have completed as they are well stored in a cool area inside my mama bird's heavy pathiophysio therapy books I've piled on each other. I can't wait to see how they turn out even though I have been warned that if I'm to keep some sort of diary for them, it'd be tedious when I don't have a flower dictionary or know some of my flora already. So I must idly stare at my screen until I figure out a much easier way to search for their names besides googling them by colour. 2014 is starting off so well for me as my family is sitting at a peaceful (enough) place with each other, the dogs smell fruity and Sampson no longer smells at all.

Love Locks

It's safe to say that now the weather is beginning to warm up, frozen cold drinks, slushies and the sort are the go-to thirst quenchers. Two consecutive days and I've already been taking advantage of the McDonalds coke floats. Not that that matters...

I'm looking for a copy of A Very She and Him Christmas on vinyl so yesterday, Peter and I wandered around the city since we had time to after my exam. Sadly, I came home without an LP since no one had a copy in hand that I could just purchase. I think I'll have to consider having to order it in before it's too late and Christmas is long gone *crosses fingers*. Yesterday wasn't all filled with unfortunate outcomes as we did take a few pictures of the love locks on one of the bridges from Crown to Flinders station. And we met Sherman the brindle frenchie. He's the fourth one we've met this year and I'm enjoying the short-second company they bring us when we greet them and their owners. Protruding every question we can fit into a minute without being desperate, their owners have been kind enough to tell us about the lives of their little ones with smiles. Mr Sherman surely was a happy little fella.
