Remington Hot Rollers

I feel rather strange coming back to do a quick review on something I've had for almost a month now. Although I haven't exactly got anything I've come 'back from', I still haven't been here to post in a while. Mind you, it's also been over a month since uni has started and learning to organise myself around that has been quite the task but that is of course for another post about uni.
So I got my hands on the Remington Silk Ceramic hot rollers from Myer ($67.95) which came with individual clips. What drove me to want to have my own? Well, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I had a conversation with my mamabird about how rollers will remind me of my late Tita Ella as she always had them in her hair. Just the plastic ones. She had short hair and her rollers came in different colours and skinny sizes. And so I know this was a super retro idea, but yes, that was partially why I thought about it and also because I'm trying to grow my hair out so I've been wanting to play around with some more vintage hair dos. There were a couple I had in mind to purchase but it was not until I saw this particular set on a few online reviews that I only wanted just that. There was another Remington one I was considering as it was within the budget I was looking for since my hair straightener/curlers (when being replaced every 4 or 5 years) usually cost around $40, but right next to it, VS Sasoon had a prettier box that came with velvet rollers, clips and a retractable cord. I figured that I should purchase the one with velvet since I thought that would be better for grip with mildly short hair but I chose my Remington set because each roller came with its own clip whereas the Vidal Sasoon one comes with a few super clips and then the rest are wire ones which I wasn't keen on. However, they still looked like a rather beautiful set and I have heard some great reviews on them.
Now, trying these out first was quite tricky. It didn't look messy but it did take me a while to place them and my fingers felt tender by the end. I'm still getting used to it and as far as time goes, it really only takes me 10 minutes or so to put them in which is just an absolute blessing when it comes to getting dressed and preparing my face. I don't actually use it for curls but for soft vintage waves and so I usually just brush my hair out completely with a paddle brush after taking them out. I do apologise for the lack of images I could have shown you but I suppose those will go up soon.

I also bought this set because with other sets, the rollers stand upright but I thought my ones just look so pretty lying on their sides with their clips attached. I do like the clips. I wish they had teeth, but they warm up along with the curlers so you have the extra heat around your hair when they're settling. But when I do have them heating for quite some time, I tend to have a small cloth or clean face towel beside me to cling the clips onto while I'm curling the rollers into my hair so that they don't somehow stick/melt to each other in case. I love this set. I love anything by Remington. I believe they are high-end quality and affordable. I do hope you enjoyed the review :)

Season 2 Premiere

Anniversaries are one of those very special occasions which I'm assuming everyone plans ahead for in order to have a lovely day planned and see itself timed perfectly. I felt like we were given a free 'cheesy pass' for the day so we had quite a few awkward moments directing different poses and trying not to cringe at all the cheesiness. The day before was another 40+ degree day and I was dreading that it would be our fate but the breeze was cool and the sun shone much too brightly in our eyes so we were blessed with graceful weather down at Pipemakers where we usually are. I'm pretty sure we were struggling to avoid mosquitos most of the time in-between compliments and repositioning.
In advance, we booked a table for two at the Brooks of Melbourne and they have given us every reason to return as the service and the staff were wonderful, the place was warmly lit and the presentation of the food was outstanding, each dish was delicious and as for the portions, they were enough to suffice you for the rest of the night. I have no idea how I could describe the artistry of their dishes since the mixes were foreign for me and rather baffling but they complimented each other perfectly. I had been looking forward to their Forest Floor desert since peeping the menu weeks ago and it was adorably presented with a remarkable resemblance exactly that of a whimsical forest floor. It reminded me of when I used to pretend fairies would be sleeping in the mushrooms in our grass when I was younger. I highly recommend their restaurant to anyone who is looking for a place to wine and dine or try their lunch menu which I'm considering for next time. I do hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we did and perhaps cringed a few times too. It sure was a wonderful day, start to finish.

Weekly Roundup Favourites #1

It's the first Sunday of the year and I thought I'd start weekly round-ups of my favourite posts and pages which I've visited during the week. Looking back on my week actually helps me reflect on all the different things I thought and felt and were inspired by. This week I found a beautifully fragile dessert that I stumbled upon whilst looking for tips and techniques on starting terrarium making. I also read a feature post of a newly-wedded couple in their heart-warming christmas photoshoot. I completely admire Elizabeth's room tour on her blog with all her interior in their glory and not to mention, her cute little Korgi, posing in the pictures. I revisited Erica's post, showing off her lovely baby bump in a nautical attire and I still wish she'd post up a tutorial on her hairdo which she rocks so well. I enjoyed Rebecca's room tour even though I too am not a fan of pink but the colour scheme seemed to radiate off my screen with her quirky little bits n' bops. Since summer is 'sort of' here, I quite like the sound of drinks and summer food for gatherings with friends and though I don't drink, even the drinks looked rather delicious to stare at. Two of my favourite Instagramers finally made a blog! I'm super excited for them and I can't wait for the future of their blog because I am in awe of their gorgeous day to day frocks and to say the truth, rather envious too. And lastly, this collection truly reminds me of Bewitched even though she's clearly channeling little miss Drew in her collar and her cape.
