It seems like the weather is all anyone can talk about since we are transitioning with Spring vibes and I have to say, it felt lovely to be out in the sun with the weekend exceeding the 20s. Hello warmth, it's been a while.

LAST DAY OF WINTER

One more sleep until Spring! Mind you, the sun only came out for about 20 minutes and currently it has become very gloomy outside since then. 

LAY BACK SUNSHINE

The sun came out today but it was rather windy and most of the time I was squinting as I faced towards the hard breeze. As a Melbournian, it is my right to enjoy this beautiful sunshine while it lasts.

OLD WINTER, NEW WINTER

Happy July! It's funny how our city is celebrating Christmas in July which would be something completely foreign to the rest of the world. The rest of the world is enjoying summer or warmer weather than us and when I read other blogs, I can see them all baring their legs with smiles.

OH, THE PLACES WE FIND

Did I mention I'm on a uni break? Finally, the time has come where I'm no longer stressing about counted essays and it feels great to be spending most of the weekends as carefree as I can along with Peter's company.

AUTUMN IN THE WOODS

Amongst all my copious amounts of assignments I am still yet to conquer, I am quite overdue to post about my trip to the Philippines and to delay myself all the more, here's a recent walk Peter and I went on this previous Sunday.

ROOFTOP CURIOSITIES

Rooftop car parks do have the potential to be great locations for photo opportunities when and if you have luckily caught that special time frame for a few snaps.

We went to Ikea last Sunday and it wasn't my intention to make a post from here but the thought came to me as I was pre-deciding what sheets to pick from Ikea which has no correlation to their car park.

A GALLERY IN THE FOREST

This might seem like a rather long post but I really couldn't choose 6 pictures that I liked the most but at least I'm not posting all 41 that I had originally chosen to pick from. I decided to make a separate post to my previous one as these are sort of different locations and I was originally imagining this to be my outfit post. I know I haven't had many outfit posts this summer than I wish I could have. To sort-of (but I know not really) make up for it, I've added a few more pictures here.

SUMMER'S DAY

It's a little ironic for me to be wearing a summer daisy dress on a wet day where even a cardigan is needed, especially after a couple of days in summer's heat. If you know Melbourne's weather, then you wouldn't be surprised to see

TRENTHAM FALLS

It's so hard to cope with 38+ days especially when the only source of air conditioning in your house resides solely in your parents bedroom. The fans struggle along with my pets who can't seem to make their mind up where they want to rest that would be less warmer for them. It's just too damn hard. Since I heard that yesterday's weather was going to be another one of those days, I asked Peter if we could check out Trentham Falls for a couple of hours and so, that we did.

Summer Dates And Plans

If there's one thing I loathe about an Australian summer, it would be how high the humidity could be in a day. It often leads to days trapped inside with a struggling aircon barely thriving to keep me cool. Now that the temperatures are gravely rising (I still don't understand why people love the heat), placid activities like picnics and days soaking the sun's rays that seep through the trees is something I appreciate so much more. I like the shade and embrace the breeze and for now that seems to be okay because I'm still yet to be drowning in a sweat puddle of my own. I'm also slightly glad that we've said goodbye to knitted sweaters, scarves and stockings as it feels innervating to be able to feel some warmth on my skin and touch the grass with my toes without my feet feeling like they'll completely frost within minutes. Along with the enjoyment of sunshine and warmer summer colours, I'm revering the time I get to spend with Peter on his days off. Most of the time, they're randomised but I've been thankful that each week is starting to flow into a routine so that not a lot of planning ahead is needed if we wanted to do small things like hikes or going on small dates.

Blind In The Fog

My last day in Buxton was rather magical if I may say so myself as we woke to an early morning fog. By 7am it was bright outside but with a purely white canvas outside our windows. The fog was so thick, you couldn't see beyond the porch and even the silhouettes of the trees were unnoticeable. There would have been no point in taking pictures of the fog as all you'd have seen was white and I hadn't brought an extra lens with me to play around with as I wasn't expecting the fog to be as opaque as it was. By 9:30 the grass and trees began to appear and the cold was growing evermore so a frolic behind the house was the last thing I felt I had to do before saying goodbye. As the fog cleared, it became easier to take pictures but even so, I noticed that in the past few days my pictures have been rather dark but I have very much liked them that way. I feel they just suit the weather and surroundings perfectly. 

I'm a suburban girl with nothing as green as this for surroundings unless I take daily drives which I do not have the luxury to do so with uni as a priority. If I move out next year however, living cheaply in the east may have its many benefits.

The Sorely Unprepared

The weather today was much more wet and colder than yesterday but all the more fun to get some squishy noises happening on a small walk around the property. I have to say, I kind of feel like it's much warmer down where we are compared to the freezing temperatures up at Lake Mountain. Yes, we did journey up the mountain for a bit of a drive severely unprepared but our ventures weren't without laughter. Whilst everyone was geared up in gloves, waterproof jackets and stacks of toboggans, we arrived in normally thin cotton socks, no gloves and jeans. One of us didn't even bring a coat and "cleverly" improvised with a sleeping bag. The car ride up was exciting as for the most part, it was foggy but the dare to step outside the car felt almost like a risk of life and death with our lack of warmer attire. My fingers would have frozen themselves but a few managed to capture the exhilarating view on Snapchat. I do regret not taking pictures in the fog but I just don't think any of my phalanges would have appreciated that.

Forgetful Moments

Although my mid year break has finished, I may have gone on a belated trip to Buxton with my cousin and her friends but only for the weekend. My holiday weakness would probably be packing because inevitably, I end up forgetting at least something once I'm halfway through to my destination. Most of the time it's the really easy things to remember like my toothbrush or extra socks. But this time my cousin reminded me to bring my gumbooties in case it's muddy, snowy and super cold which of course I was more than keen to bring as I haven't had the opportunity to get them dirty this winter. It was them which I had forgotten to pack and so I had bought this pair from Big W for quite a bargain I wasn't expecting. They fit perfectly and I've already stomped a few puddles trying to get pictures for a post. Since I am without a laptop, I've just made do with some easy editing on the iPad and I'm not entirely sure how his will go for me for the rest of the weekend. Speaking of which, it's going to be a long one and I'm quite comfortable finishing off this post after watching Oculus, eating maltesers and enjoying a pint of Renberg.

Growing Out

I think my fringe has gotten to a point where it's beginning to annoy me and this is usually about the time that a new trim is due out of frustration with the fact that it'll take a million years to grow out. But this time I won't give in. I don't think I can actually recall the last time I successfully grew my fringe out since all I can really remember is having a fringe practically my whole life. I know many of us girls who have had fringes for years tend to just keep cutting once they're too long to either keep that same hairstyle we have or purely because of impatience. I must say that even now I'm struggling to keep my mind occupied from thinking too much about how my hair looks like in the mirror without wailing over how boring and useless my fringe has become. My goal right now is to grow it out so I can experiment different styles that I otherwise couldn't achieve with side sweeps or blunt cuts. At the moment I've been surviving with bobby pins and little girls teeth clips that I found lying around from when I was much younger. Pinning them back really does help with the waiting process since I'm at ease when it comes to styling it. I'm not entirely sure how long this will last, but I do hope it does. 

On another note, knowing Melbourne, our heritage stands in small buildings or museums that are open to the public. We don't have ruins or ghost towns as the infrastructure continues to develop. But there is this one place that is yet to be turned into something new as if it never existed at all. There was nothing seedy about the place. Just walls and buildings filled with empty spray cans and walls covered in graffiti. I've seen pictures posted of this place and thought to visit. The cardboard on the windows give a rather echoing bang against the window panes and the pigeons coo only adds to the thrill of their flapping wings. There were shadows and shade and right in the middle, some of the roof has probably caved in over time, but even just standing there, it felt like an urban atmosphere.

Coming Back

Originally, this was meant to be a guest post only Peter isn't quite fluent with blogging and so I am left to finish off this post which he has already started by picking his shots from yesterday. I do agree with the fact that it has been a while since we took a stroll through Pipemakers and now that Summer is sort-of here, I've remembered how flies and mosquitos were such a nuisance last summer. It was quite refreshing to see how seasonal this place can be. As Peter pointed out, it never looks the same. We were actually trying to collect a handful of flowers that I can start pressing which by the way I have completed as they are well stored in a cool area inside my mama bird's heavy pathiophysio therapy books I've piled on each other. I can't wait to see how they turn out even though I have been warned that if I'm to keep some sort of diary for them, it'd be tedious when I don't have a flower dictionary or know some of my flora already. So I must idly stare at my screen until I figure out a much easier way to search for their names besides googling them by colour. 2014 is starting off so well for me as my family is sitting at a peaceful (enough) place with each other, the dogs smell fruity and Sampson no longer smells at all.
